A warning today from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT suggests a shortage of smartphones and devices is looming this Christmas due to a shortage of semiconductor chips.
The good news is this - we have no shortage of high quality, checked and warrantied devices that have years of life to run. It’s better for your wallet and the planet - for example, see our best deals on iPhones here
IT experts at The Chartered Institute for IT have suggested buying mobile phones and tablets sooner rather than later in the run up to Christmas.
Availability of semiconductors(the micro chips that power mobile phones)has been severely affected by a combination of factors including pandemic related manufacturing delays, increased shipping costs and tighter international restrictions on movement of supply.
The Director Of Policy at BCS, Dr Bill Mitchell OBE suggested "that while it was still unclear whether shoppers will be faced with a definite shortage of electronic goods, reconsidering planned purchases could help to avoid disappointment if prices were to rise."
